Physics simulations (FeelPhysics)
From-scratch simulations for an educational game of interactive experiments.
A wide range of simulations written from scratch, from planetary motion and relativistic phenomena to small mechanical systems. They led to FeelPhysics, an educational game made of fully interactive experiments.
01 Problem
An educational game of interactive experiments needs simulations that are fast and fully controllable by the player.
02 Idea
A single phenomenon is usually simple enough to code directly, which keeps the calculation fast, so I mostly write the physics myself. In the clip, a spring simulation written from scratch runs on a single CPU core at 100 fps and above. It handles transverse, longitudinal and circular waves, and the player can change mass, stiffness, damping and gravity. The game has many more experiments than the clip shows.
03 Result
A spring simulation that runs at 100 fps and above on a single CPU core and handles transverse, longitudinal and circular waves.
